What technology does the youth need to have?

  • Tablet/Computer with a camera and stable access to the Internet and an area to study during class.
  • A blank workbook or multiple paper to record their thoughts and answers.

When are the online classes meeting?

  • We enroll every week with a deadline of Friday at noon for class the following week. 
  • The 4-day classes run each day starting Tuesday and ending Friday. An AM class time and a PM class time are offered.
  • Daily sessions last from 2.5 to 3 hours (4-day classes)
  • We also have a two-day camp when there is enough interest. These classes run for six-hours starting at 8:30 a.m. each Wednesday.

How long will the HPP program be available?

  •  The Ho`ohiki Pilina program will be available to youth on Oahu through the end of the year and into 2021. 

Can siblings and friends attend the classes on-line together?

  • Ho`ohiki Pilina encourages siblings between the ages of 14 – 18 to enroll together. Having siblings and multiple friends in the class together provides support and discussion.

Do youth need parental approval? If so, how does the program verify?

  • Youth ages 14 – 18 will need parent or legal guardian approval in order to participate.
  • Guardian permission will be verified before confirmation of enrollment.

May I attend classes with my youth?

  • We encourage parents to attend the orientation on Monday evening. The classes are meant to provide confidentiality for every youth attending, so we ask for each youth to be in the classes by themselves. Having siblings and friends also in the class helps with support and discussion.
